Wellsville Mile

Time again for another Wellsville mile. This year was a totally different experience. Last year it was rainy and cold. This year it was sunny and HOT! I loved it. Brock was in the last heat of the day. The even started at 9:30 and Brock didn't fun until almost 1:00. It was  along wait! He did great. He beat his time from last year. He was a little frustrated because he had to stop to tie his shoe twice which slowed him down. When he was coming down the home stretch I yelled at him to beat the kid in front of him and he turned on the speed passing him. Great job Brock!

Grandpa Norris's Birthday

Yesterday was Grandpa Norris's birthday. We aren't able to celebrate with him but we wanted him to know that we love and miss him and look forward to being reunited. Bree, Jason's sister, requested that we all do something in honor of Grandpa's birthday. She wanted us all to take a few minutes on his birthday and think about him or write him a note and then release the balloons. We chose to each share something we remember or wish we could tell Grandpa. These were all personal so I am not going to share what we each said but it was nice to take a few minutes and remember this wonderful man who has a lasting influence on his posterity.

Ballet Recital

Kassie had her year end performance last night. The Cache Valley Civic Ballet performed Act III of sleeping beauty. The ballerina above is Becky Erickson. She was the ballerina that came to story time and is responsible for Kassie becoming obsessed with ballet.

The performance was amazing. Funny story - When this guy came on stage Brock leaned over to me and whispered"I will NEVER be that guy!" Mikele asked "Is that guy wearing tights?"

This ballerina is Karen, Kassie's teacher. She is amazing and a great teacher. She choreographed the last dance of the night. It was amazing!

The second half of the show was the Cache Valley School of Ballet performance classes.
Kassie was part of the level 2 performance class. She was so excited to perform.
Afterwards she told me that the performance was even better then ballet class.
She did a great job and had a fabulous experience.

Every ballerina needs some flowers. Congrats Kassie on a job well done!

Ballet Class

Aw, isn't she just the cutest ballerina you have ever seen? Seriously, if you want a good laugh check out some of the facial expressions in these pictures. Especially when she is doing her leaps. Last week was Kassie's last class for the semester. She was actually taking 2 classes - a performance and a technique class. Parents are not allowed in the class until the last class so this was my one and only opportunity to take pictures. Ballet day is "the best day of my life!!!" according to Kassie. She has LOVED it! Kassie did extremely well. She was in a level 2 class (normally for 6-7 year olds) and her teacher Miss Karen recommended that she move up to level 3 (normally for 7-8 year olds) next year. I am so proud of Kassie for how hard she worked. I will post some pictures from her performance next.

Brock's Birthday!

My charming son turned 11 last week. He is such a great kid. Brock is an awesome big brother. He puts up with  a lot of girly stuff. He is sensitive to his sisters' feelings and is a big help to me. Brock is funny. It is 11 year old humor but he even gets me laughing sometimes.
For Brock's birthday we had a family dinner. Jason made it home from his convention in Vegas just in time. Brock picked the menu - meat loaf, garlic mashed potatoes, rolls and mixed vegetables. Brock actually doesn't like mixed veggies but we have a rule that on your birthday you don't have to eat the vegetable so he chose one he didn't like so he wouldn't have to eat it. 11 year old humor!
Brock had his best friend Sean over for the party - presents and games. Brock had cards and presents from grandparents and great grandparents. The big gift was from Jason and I. Brock decided he wanted to learn to play the electric guitar. He was soooo excited! Brock has his first lesson today. Hopefully we will all enjoy this new hobby.
After presents we played games - skip bo and the bean game. Then we had cake and ice cream.  Brock chose mint chip ice cream and a confetti cake. He wanted a lego soccer field on the cake. I was totally ok with that. It was so easy!
As a side note. I tried to make the confetti cake with a white cake mix and nerds (I had found the recipe on pinterest). I mixed the nerds into the batter before pouring it into the pan. It didn't work very well. All the nerds settled to the bottom of the cake. Maybe if you sprinkle the nerds onto the top of the batter after you pour it into the cake pan then the nerds will sink gradually and be mixed throughout the cake.
Happy Birthday Buddy!

Daddy Daughter Date

After weeks of preparation the night of Mikele' Daddy Daughter date finally arrived. Her leaders asked if I would come take pictures of the girls with their Dad. After their photo shoot they enjoyed dinner and games. Jason said he had a great time. The food was good the games were fun and the date was cute. What more could you ask for?

The girls have been working on the decorations for the last couple of weeks. They made the flower treat cups, napkin/silverware holders and the decorations for the tree. The girls also filled out some questions about their Dad. I think Mikele shared that her dad is AWESOME!

I appreciate Mikele's amazing leaders. They put so much time, planning and thought into this wonderful evening. Both Jason and Mikele had a fabulous time.

Last Packmeeting

Last month was Brock's last pack meeting. He will be turning 11 and moving on to Jason's scout group.  Brock is very excited to be joining his Dad's group and even more excited to be reunited with his friend Sean who advanced earlier in the year. I have really appreciated the amazing cub scout leaders that have worked so hard to keep the scouting program running smoothly. Brock has had a lot of fun and experience a lot of new things.

For the activity the boys were split into two teams and they made a cardboard robot. We ended up with a whole fleet of robots. The kids all had a great time and it was a perfect end to our cub scouting experience.

 My cute robot family.

Weekend Company

This post is a catch up post. The end of April we had some great company. Jon, Dayrn and the adorable Rachel came to see us. I don't have to many pictures but I did capture a few on Sunday afternoon. The weather was perfect and we went outside. Jon spent some quality time in the go kart with all the kids while the rest of us tried to stay out of Allie's way. She is a crazy driver in her dune racer. Kassie is a little better driver but I wouldn't recommend getting in their path or you are likely to get ran over. It was so great to have Jon's family here. We don't see them nearly enough.
