To sum it up . . .FABULOUS!!! We had such a great time.
Day 1&2: We dropped our kids off on Friday afternoon and drove with my parents to my sister's Krissy's house in Elko Nevada. The next morning we drove to San Francisco. On the way we stopped in Reno for lunch and swung past Lake Tahoe. We grabbed some ice cream and checked out the view before driving on.

Sunday: Today we went to the point Bonita Lighthouse and to Muir Woods. The lighthouse was pretty cool. It was cool and foggy but you gotta love the ocean no matter what the weather is like. Once we were more inland the weather was great. Muir Woods is a red wood forest. Not your big fat ones but really tall ones.
The top of the bus was REALLY windy and cold.
At the end of the day we met up with Mom and Dad and Calvin & AnnMarie. We rented this 7 person spider bike and had quite the adventure around Golden Gate Park.
This yummy dessert is garlic ice cream from the Stinky Rose. They specialize in garlic with a little food added to the side.
Tuesday: Today we walked the piers. We stopped at Ghirardelli. Yummy. We also checked out some old ships including this submarine that we toured.
We also had lunch at the famous sourdough factory Boudins. Yes it is as good as they say it is. We ended the day at Alcatraz. I have to say I really enjoyed the audio tour through the jail. They had people who either worked or lived there telling stories. Everyone had the headphones on so it was creepy quite while people walked around listening to the tour.
Wednesday was the official geek day! We went to the Google campus, the computer museum and then to the Apple campus. I have to admit I kind of felt dump at these places especially the computer museum. It is incredible what the amazing techy minds of their time invented.
Thursday was very fun! We rented these go cars and zipped around San Francisco. We headed over to Lombard street then up to the Coit Tower. Picture Mario cart and you get the idea what it was like to drive these motorcycle/go kart buggies.
After lunch we went to the Tcho chocolate factory. This was fabulous. After a very informative video and tour about how really amazing pure yummy expensive chocolate is made we enjoyed taste testing. There is a real science to it. It was incredible how different each of the pieces of chocolate tasted when the only difference was where the beans came from. Oh yummy!!
That evening we went to the new exploratorium on pier 15. It was their adult night so we got to play to our hearts content without having to feel guilty for stealing a kids' turn.
On our last day in San Francisco we rode the trolley, went to the trolley museum, and walked through China Town. After a quick dinner we went to the new Superman movie that had just come out. Adam and Krissy had pedometers and we walked an average of 10 miles per day. By day 6 we were feeling it!
Saturday meant the return to reality. :( We drove all the way back to Pocatello to pick up our kids. We stayed the night with Bree and James and then finished our drive home Sunday morning.
Kassie lost her first tooth at Bree and James' house. It had been hanging by a thread so with a lot of encouragement and a little tug it finally popped out!
Look who escaped from Alcatraz and came back with us!
