Back to School Pictures!!

It is time again for back to school photos!! We had so much fun taking the kids shopping for their back to school wardrobe! This year Jason and I took each child one at a time. We to them out to eat at the restaurant of their choice and enjoyed some one on one time together. It was so fun to see how each shopping experience was unique to the child. Than last weekend we went to an orchard took their back to school pictures. They are my favorite people to photograph!!

If you would like to see all of the photos from their back to school session you can check out the entire gallery here.

Allie was the first we took shopping. She loves to try on clothes but takes forever to do so because she is jabbering the entire time! When it comes to picking out what she wanted to keep and what we were putting back she was very worried about offending and would say "I am not saying that I don't like this shirt but I like this other shirt better."

Oh Miss Kassie! She was the fastest at trying on clothes. Our biggest challenge with her was that she is so dang skinny. She needs a super skinny jean so that it fits around her waist but is also long enough! She was getting some cute leggings and a denim skirt to go over it. The skirt was WAY to big in the waist so I was looking in the little girls section and found a size 4 on clearance (normally she wears a 7) I had her try it on and it fit great!

Mikele was so fun to shop with!! She looks great in every color and is willing to try anything. She can totally pull of these crazy pants. She also loves owls and picked multiple shirts with an owl on it.

Brock was probably the hardest to shop for and with. He was all about getting done! He is in between the boys section and the teen section. It is hard to find pants that are skinny enough in the waist but also long enough for his legs. His Sunday pants are a 16 slim. Do you know how hard it is to find a 16 slim anywhere? So we moved up to the teen stores and found 26 waist pants which still are a little big on him and a lot of stores don't carry that small of waist size. Brock survived and we did find some sharp looking clothes that he looks pretty great in if I do say so myself!!

52 Week Photo Project - Week 1

1/3200 sec at f/1.8, ISO 100

It is week one of the 52 Week Photo project. I am so excited about this project. The theme for this week is 52 steps from your front door. I did take more then 52 steps but this is a sign just down my street that I have always loved and wanted to photograph so it was the perfect subject for this week's theme.  Jason like the sepia version and I liked the color version so I posted the sepia here and the color version on my business blog post where you can add links to your photo. I can't wait to see what everyone else photographed!
If you would like to join the 52 week photo project here is a link to the details and themes for the year and and here is a link to the post on my iotamaker blog for adding your link to the post.

Family Life 52 Weeks Project: Week 3 - 2

I have been really enjoying my Family Life 52 Week Project. The kids were out of school on Monday and I took the opportunity to take some pictures of my oldest daughter in her new vest.  She found the best a few weeks ago while we were out shopping. She really didn't need it and frankly I had spent a lot of money on her in the last month with her birthday, Christmas and baptism so I told her if she really wanted it she would have to earn it by cleaning out the dishwasher and doing all of dinner dishes for a week to earn it. She enthusiastically agreed.  I need to find something else she wants so she will keep doing the dishes. ;)  Anyways she finally earned the vest so I thought - perfect opportunity to take her picture.

Family Life 52 Weeks: Week 2

Ok, this is the first picture I took after I committed to doing this project. The girls were sitting in the hall and I loved the lighting and moment.

I thought I would add a few rules that were created specifically for this project. I think they will help keep the moment real.

You may not quickly change your child into matching clothes right before you take the photo because it's going to actually be printed and put in an album. Whatever they're wearing goes.
You may not rush around and pick up all the toys on the floor and put away the jackets, shoes, whatever is lying around before you take the photo. Whatever your house looks like at that moment goes.
There will be the occasional prompt that requires you to be in the photo. You may not skip over those ones. Obviously your kids know that you're there every day, but 10 years from now will they see it in the photos?

Here are a few more I took this week.

This picture cracks me up because Allie always pretends to be asleep whenever you open the van door to get her out of her car seat.  She thinks it is so funny so I was excited to capture her "I fell asleep" face.

My goal for this next week is to take some pictures of my other two kids. They are just at school all day and not as accessible

Family Life 52 Week Project: Week 1

I have been thinking a lot about my life and how I am "enjoying the journey" or "savoring the moment." It as caused me to have a strong desire to capture the everyday moments and relationships of my family's life. I couple of weeks ago I pulled out my camera and captured these photos of Allie and Kassie.  They are becoming such good friends. Today I was reading one of the many blogs that I follow. Brooke Snow is a photographer and teacher who I took some classes from and admire. She shared that she was going to do a Family Life 52 week project.  With different prompts she is capturing her family in a photo each week.  Of course you can take more then one but to capture at least one everyday moment each week.  This was perfect! What a treasure I will have after 52 weeks to pass on to my kids. I am discovering more and more that my style or what inspires me is when I capture a relationship. These type of photos speak volumes to me. Join me! Leave a comment if you want to participate and we will encourage each other.

These next couple were actually taken first. The girls had just finished their baths and were getting ready for the day. Allie looks up to her siblings and mimics almost everything they do and say.

My New Nephew

I am so excited for my brother and his wife. They just had their first baby. This adorable little guy was 8 pounds 3 ounces at birth.  I was amazed by how strong he is and how gorgeous his skin and coloring is.  He is only a day old in these pictures that I took at the hospital.  I know there are a lot but I couldn't narrow it down.  It was fun and challenging to go take his pictures when he was so new and with the lovely hospital room as my backdrop.

Kassie, Brock & Mikele's pictures

From here on out I am posting my photography on my Iotamaker blog. My iotamaker blog is my business blog for scrapbooking and photography.  I also have been taking photos for other people and needed someplace to post it.  I primarily use this blog to document my family's coming and goings.  Please hop on over and check out Kassie's, Mikele's and Brock's photo shoot.  The posts will all be up by the end of the week.

Allie - 2 year Photo Session

Allie is a spunky 2 year old! She had her check up last week and is looking good.  The only concern from our pediatrician is that she still isn't talking very much. Here are her stats and a few more pictures:

Weight: 27.8 pounds (65%)
Height: 33 3/4 inches (55% )

I based her photo shoot on all things Allie loves.  She loves to be outside at the playground and she love bubbles.  Allie had a pretty short attention span when it came to taking pictures.  I could only really get her to pose for about 1 picture before she was off and going again. I was pretty excited when I got home and found that I had some keepers.

Baby Claire

Over the 4th of July weekend we had the opportunity to go stay with my Grandparents in Island Park (I will post pictures soon). On the way home we stopped in Rexburg to see Bree and James' new baby girl Claire that was only 6 days old. I couldn't help but take the opportunity to take pictures.

Congrats Bree and James!

I also snapped a few pictures of their 2 older girls Avri and Emery.

Avri wanted me to take a picture of her feet.

Cute Emery.
