Disney World 2010 Part 7

 I know seriously "Part 7"? It was a 10 day trip! Really I think this is the last post. On Thursday we went to the Magic Kingdom! We had a ton of fun in Tomorrow Land! Space Mountain was a blast. I have not been able to ride on space mountain our last 2 Disney trips because I was either pregnant or had to many little kids with me that couldn't go.

On Friday we went to Disney Hollywood Studios, previously known as MGM. Here we of course had to his star tours for all you Star Wars fans. The ride was actually closing the next day for either updating I think so we were glad we were able to take one last trip into space.

Brock made his own custom light saber. He loves his new double light saber with a blue and green end, light, sound effects and he can take it apart and re build it in different ways.

 We also had lunch at Pizza Planet.  Today we got a little bit of rain, Florida style which means it is warm like bath water and you get just as wet as you would if you showered with your cloths on.  Mikele and I went on the Tower of Terror!!! Loved it! We also rode my probably tied for 1st favorite ride. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster staring Aerosmith. We buckled into our majorly stretched limo then went speeding through LA rocking out to Aerosmith while we corkscrewed, looped and experienced 5G speeds.  This was Brock's first rollercoaster that looped and he LOVED IT!

Finally if you ever go to Disney Studios be sure to run over and get your fast passes for the 3-D Toy story ride.  It is kind of like the Buzz Light Year ride but BETTER!  You are in an arcade and shooting paint balls to rack up points. Fast Passes go fast and are usually gone by 11:00 so zip over first thing.


The kids by this point were exhausted! We would get them up for a big breakfast, pack our lunch and get in the car to drive the 20 minutes to the park. The girls would fall asleep on the way there then we would wake them up again and play all day long.  At the end of the day we would load them back into the car, they would all fall asleep except for Brock the die hard and then carry them to their beds.

On Saturday our flight didn't leave until 5:30 (then it was delayed and didn't leave until 7:00) so we went back to the Magic Kingdom to catch a few things we missed on Thursday.  We even ran into this famous pirate. . .

Brock and Mikele are now officially pirates! We also took a photo opp with this charming couple. . .

Our flight home went smoothly except for the departure delay.  We still were able to make our connecting flight from Atlanta to Salt Lake City and the kids all slept for almost the entire flight.  We arrived in Salt Lake around 11:30 so by the time we got our luggage, shuttled to the park and ride, stopped for a bathroom break and drove home it was close to 2:30 am.  So we sluffed church and slept in.

We did learn a few things about our kids on this trip.

1. Brock will try all the rides once. I don't think he saw much of the rides because in all the pictures they take on the rides he had his eyes squeezed shut.
2. Mikele is a die hard thrill seeker.  She would go on all the rides, love them and go again.
3. Kassie is seriously addicted to milk! She did much better emotionally if we froze a water bottle full of milk the night before and brought with us just for her to drink through out the day. Kassie also does not like dark or 3D rides.  She also is scared of the experience rides.  What I mean by that is if the ride was setting a scene or telling a story she did not like it!  She did like rides that were just that, a ride. Her favorite rides at the Magic Kingdom were Thunder Mountain and the Tomorrow Land speed way.
4. Allie can handle only so much heat.  By the last day she was done. I think she had had enough of the humidity and heat and was ready to return to the drier climate of home.

This was a huge and wonderful trip for our entire family. It is sad that after almost 2 years of planning that it is over but I am sure with appropriate scrapbooking and blogging we will keep the memories alive for a life time.

Disney World 2010 Part 6

Wednesday - Sea World - blue shirt day

Sea world was a ton of fun. They had two amazing roller coaster for Jenny and I, the Kraken and the Manta. Seriously check out the videos about these rides.  I would have to say that my all time favorite ride for the whole trip was the Manta!  We did have a causality, Jenny's phone didn't survive the ride and fell to it's death.

We also went to the Shamu show, Believe.  Ok one comment- totally lame! Apparently since that trainer was killed they won't let the trainers in the water during the show. On a funnier note, the kids wanted to sit in the splash zone. (I had nice seats just outside the splash zone) So we moved down to the splash zone. The kids ended up moving over across the isle to be a little higher so they could see the whales. Then came the splashing. Mat, Jordynn, Jason, Kassie, Allie and I got SOAKED!!! The kids- not so much.

Sea World had a huge area with kid friendly rides.  There weren't that many people so the kids were able to go on the rides over and over again.  They all LOVED it!

Ok in this picture Kassie doesn't look very excited but really she went on this roller coaster 3 times.

Disney World 2010 Part 5

Sorry about the delay in finishing these posts. I got a little caught up in getting caught up on house work, laundry, getting ready for school to start tomorrow and a great game of kick ball!

So lets see where were we? Oh ya Monday- red shirt day- Animal Kingdom

We had a great time at the Animal Kingdom. It wasn't very busy and we say almost everything.  We did have a fabulous Florida rainstorm but thank goodness for ponchos we all stayed pretty dry.  We started the day with a safari and even helped hunt down some poachers.  The kids loved getting pretty close to some very large animals. We also went on some crazy fun rides including the Mount Everest roller coaster.  Mikele LOVED it, Brock went on it a couple of times and kept his eyes closed and 

 the big surprise. . .

Disney World 2010 Part 4

On Sunday we met first thing in the morning for family pictures.  It isn't everyday that you get 82 people together for pictures.  By the time we were done we were hot, sweaty and ready to go back to our house and enjoy the pool. That is just what we did right after Mat made us all omelets.  The kids swam the rest of the day.  I finally dragged them from the pool after about 6 hours of swimming to get showered and ready for the barbecue and fireside that night.

On Monday we headed back to Universal Studio's Island of adventure to finish the places we missed on Friday.  Mainly we went to the new Harry Potter exhibit!  So cool!  The rides were AWESOME and the Butterbeer was YUMMY!!!

 After we left the Wizarding World we went to a magic show.  The kids thought it was really cool and we weren't able to leave without buying our own magic show supplies. 

Disney World 2010 Part 3

For part 3 of our Disney World adventure I am going to cover the day and a half at Epcot.  We went on Saturday and then again Monday afternoon after we finished up at Universal Studio's Island of Adventure.  The first day we spent almost the entire day in the front part of Epcot.  We didn't even make it to the countries until the very end of the day so we went back to finish seeing all the countries on Monday.

Jason and I were able to try out Segways. They were pretty fun actually. Sorry this picture is so dark. Jason decided he needs one for when we go running in the morning. What a funny guy!

We also went to to the Turtle Talk with Crush show. It was really cool because Crush from Finding Nemo swam over and taped on the "human tank"  Then he asked questions and answered some of ours.  He could see us and would ask for the kids in the blue hat and red shirt if he had a question.  So fun!

The kids got wet trying to catch the jumping water.  The pictures tell the story!

Epcot has a new Kim Possible adventure for kids.  They gave us a phone that would show videos with assignments.  We had to find different things in a specific country and sometimes it activated statues to come out of the fountain or the cooko clock to chime.  It was really fun for the kids and I would highly recommend it if you happen to go to Epcot.

 

Allie got her shorts a little wet. I don't normally let my baby run around without pants.

We also saw a few famous people including Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto, Mini Mouse, Stitch and of course the big guy Mickey Mouse!  Allie was not to fond of the characters as you can see in the picture of her with Goofy.

Disney World 2010 Part 2

Ok I will admit it was kind of mean to just post pictures of the plane ride.  So today I will get into the real part of the trip! 

Day 2- Friday August 6, 2010 Universal Studios - Red Shirts
  All 82 of us had matching red shirts and blue shirts. They had a Mickey Mouse head silhouette with “Hobbs Family” on the front and a bigger logo across the back.  Our theme for the trip was “Making Magical Memories.”  Each day was assigned a shirt color so that when we were at the parks we could spot each other easily.  It was really funny how quickly the employees of the parks picked up on the shirts and would make comments about being part of the Hobbs family.  We flew in early to enjoy an extra day on the trip.  We decided that we would spend the extra time at Universal Studio’s Island of Adventure.  We made it just in time to be greeted by the comic supper heroes including Captain America and Spiderman.  We took the opportunity to get their signature and a quick photo before child swapping with Mat and Jenny’s family to ride on our fist ride- 3D Spiderman ride.  Then we headed over to the Dr. Seuss land to take the kids on some rides their size.  We rode One Fish Two Fish, the carousel, and a number of other kid friendly rides.
  We left the park around 7:30 and went to Chillies for dinner.  It was fairly disastrous event.  We went to one chillies that had a hour long wait so we went to another that said that they could seat us as soon as we got there and then we ended up waiting for 15 minutes.  Then it took forever for us to get our food.  The kids were freezing because they had got all wet as we were leaving the park.  We didn’t leave chillies until after 10:00 so it made for a very late night.
